Nowadays, work is increasingly becoming a privilege rather than an obligation. Very economical with means of expression, the filmmakers record the activity of a labour office at the Belgian town of Charleroi. Observing bureaucratic procedures, the spectators get to know those who are no longer professionally active. They come for assistance, advice or just to comply with formalities. All of them have one thing in common – a desperate need to change their situation.
