Life on the Border
What kind of imprint did the ISIS offensive leave on the psyche of the children living near the Iraq-Syria border? What is life in refugee camps like today? The Kurdish director Bahman Ghobadi, whose films include, among others, A Time for Drunken Horses, gave voice to the youngest victims of the Islamic State. He handed cameras to three girls and five boys from the camps in Kobanê and Shengal, so that they could convey their experiences and emotions by making their own films. The picture presents the results of this extraordinary project.
