Steam on the River

Steam on the River

Jazz music was a freedom manifesto in Central and Eastern Europe under the communist regime. Trumpeter Laco Déczi, double bass player Jan Jankeje and saxophonist Lubomír Tamškovič shared the fate of many Czechoslovakian artists of their generation and left the country after the Soviet invasion in 1968. Over 40 years later, the artists, who are scattered all over the world, decide to meet in order to finally perform together. Three different biographies, four countries and one shared great passion are the three components that make this amusing and melancholy film.
