The Nine

The Nine

The documentary derives its title from one of the streets in the Californian city of Modesto. Its local community makes the dark, reverse side of the American dream. But the film is not sociological material about the victims of the recent crisis or social misfits. With lots of tenderness, the director portrays the daily life of the residents of the Nine. Among them, there are charming and extraordinary types, such as Kiki, a prostitute addicted to drugs, who lives among her fantasies, childhood memories and beloved animals.
