The Nest

The Nest

After children moved away from home, the aging parents are left with empty rooms, telephone conversations and long days of waiting for their children’s visits. The parents gradually renovate the house hoping that it will encourage children to come. Their means are limited, but this activity helps them to drive the fear that one day they might remain alone away from themselves. Although cosy, the eponymous nest is empty because adult children prefer to live in a big city instead of the countryside. Schnirzova’s film is a sour-sweet portrait of an aging marriage who are trying to create a happy home with all their might.
