Born in Barcelona and raised in Cuba, he was the only Spaniard awarded with two stars in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was the person responsible for Latino rhythms which once had conquered the US. An excellent musician, arranger and orchestra director, he also went down in history as an owner of casinos, cartoonist and incorrigible lady’s man. What is more, he helped Rita Hayworth in her career and remained friends with presidents and gangsters. Xavier Cugat was an artist and adventurer whose hits had been hummed by the entire world until today.
