Cargo

Sławomir Shuty and Tomasz Bochniak invite the audience to an anonymous journey to Krakow’s district of Nowa Huta to visit Ludwik department store, the Ludowy Theatre or the Świt cinema. They take them the Avenue of Roses, where many years ago Poland’s largest statute of Lenin towered over the street, in order to show them, soon after, its eventual destruction – the result of the fall of the communist regime. The narrator is Tola, a few-year old girl who tells the story of the political system transformation in Poland and its impact on the residents of a housing estate reciting a nursery rhyme.
